Gallery: Oxford Botley Road Inbound
Botley Road is the main road in from the west of the County, and the shortest route in from the ring road. It is very congested with standing/crawling traffic in morning and evening peaks. But it does have cycle or bus lanes along almost it’s entire length, so even the slowest cyclist goes faster than the cars.
Eynsham Road - Cycle lane is mostly 80cm. The car lane is also narrow and speeds are low.
Bypass for junction with Cumnor Hill
Westway Bus and P&R Lane - Cars are allowed in bus lane if going to Park & Ride; ride in middle of the lane.
Bus Lane and Cycle Track - If you use cycle track, take care at bus stops.
From Binsey Lane - Cycle Lane is 90cm, which doesn’t seem to cause any major problems.
Abbey Road - take care - Watch out for cars turning right across you when traffic is standing.
Roger Dudman Way - take special care - watch out for lorries turning left across you.
Botley Road Railway Bridge - No cycle lane! - take special care --- Pull out into the traffic. Or scoot along the gutter. Or walk.
